The sixty-nine Type 2 Bo-Bo Locomotives were built between 1961-63. The fleet was finaly withdrawn in 1987.
- Class 27/0 - Original batch (Mostly Steam Heat Fitted)
- Class 27/1 - Modified batch adapted for Push-Pull operation for the Glasgow-Edinburgh services.
- Class 27/2 - Modified batch adapted for Push-Pull operation for the Glasgow-Edinburgh services and fitted with Electric Train Heating (ETH)
