The fifty Class 58 Co-Co Type Class 5 Diesel Freight Locomotives were built by British Rail at Doncaster between 1985-87. All were withdrawn from service by 2002 and many have found further use in Europe.

The initial releases featured working front/rear lights and a 6-pin DCC Decoder socket.
